Plain folk, commonly referred to as "commoners" or "ordinary people," are those who belong to the working class and do not hold any prestigious position or title. Synonyms for plain folk include the masses, the proletarians, the majority, the populace, the hoi polloi, and the rank-and-file. These terms are used to describe individuals who are not part of the elite class or the ruling group and typically have lesser power and wealth. These individuals may hold jobs in factories, farms, or other blue-collar occupations and often have limited access to education and social mobility. Despite these limitations, plain folk make up a significant portion of society and are essential to the functioning of day-to-day life.
