Qilin, also known as Kirin, is a mythical creature from East Asian mythologies. It is often depicted as a horse-dragon hybrid with antlers similar to a deer. In Chinese culture, the qilin represents good luck, prosperity, and optimism. There are several synonyms for the word qilin such as Lin, which translates to unicorn in English, and Xiezhi, which is depicted as a companion to the qilin in Chinese mythology. Another synonym for qilin is Kei Loon, referring to the Kirin in Japanese mythology. In Korean culture, the qilin is known as Girin or Jiru which can also be used as an alternative to the word qilin.
