It is popularly called the Roast Beef plant because of its scent, which is said to be similar to that of roast beef. However, it has other common synonyms such as Milfoil, Thousand-leaf, Sanguinary, Nosebleed, Carpenter's weed, and Soldier's woundwort, among others.
