Sarcostemma Acidum, known as the Indian Caustic Vine or Hadjod, is a species of plant belonging to the Apocynaceae family. It has been traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine to treat bone fractures and other disorders. There are several synonyms for this plant, including Cissus quadrangularis, Asthisamharaka, Vitis quadrangularis, and Haddjod. These synonyms indicate that the plant is mainly associated with its bone-strengthening properties, as "Asthisamharaka" translates to "bone-setter" in Sanskrit. Additionally, the term "Hadjod" is also used for this plant due to its tendency to climb and twine around other plants, similar to how a "Hadjod" or pole is used for support during Indian pilgrimage.
