St. Eustatius is a small island in the Caribbean Sea, located around 12 miles southeast of the island of Saba. It has many synonyms, including Statia, Saint Eustace, and Sint Eustatius. Historically, the island has been known by different names, including Orangie Bay, which was derived from the Dutch word "Oranje" for "orange." Statia has also been referred to as the "Golden Rock," as it was a major trading hub during the 18th century, with vast amounts of gold passing through its shores. Furthermore, the island played an important role in the American Revolution, and was known as the "First Salute" as it was the first foreign nation to recognize the United States of America's sovereignty.
