St. John the Apostle is also known as John the Evangelist, John of Patmos, and the Beloved Disciple. He was one of the twelve apostles of Jesus and the author of the Gospel of John, three letters in the New Testament, and the book of Revelation. He is considered the patron saint of love, loyalty, and authors. St. John is also known for his close relationship with Jesus, being the only apostle present at the crucifixion and the one whom Jesus entrusted with the care of his mother Mary. His feast day is celebrated on December 27th in the Western Church and May 8th in the Eastern Church.
