The Tanezumi rat, also known as the Japanese field mouse or Asian house mouse, is a small rodent indigenous to Asia. There are several synonyms for this species, including: Mus musculus molossinus, Apodemus agrarius, and Rattus tanezumi. These rats are gray-brown in color, have large ears and tails, and are primarily active at night. They are known to inhabit a wide range of habitats, including agricultural lands, forests, and human settlements. Despite being considered a pest by some, Tanezumi rats play an important role in the ecosystem as prey for carnivores such as snakes and birds of prey.
