Taxus floridana is a slow-growing evergreen tree species native to the Southeastern United States. Also known as the Florida yew, its scientific name is often abbreviated as T. floridana. Other synonyms used to refer to this species include the Florida Taxus, Southern yew, and Yew plum pine. They are typically found in shaded and moist areas and are a significant source of taxol, a chemotherapy drug used to treat various types of cancer. Despite the medicinal value of Taxus floridana, its exposure to animals and humans can be toxic and may lead to severe medical issues, including death.
