The European Community, also known as the European Economic Community, was established in 1957 with the Treaty of Rome. The organization has evolved over time and is now commonly referred to as the European Union (EU). However, there are still several synonyms for the European Community that are still in use, including the European Common Market, the European Coal and Steel Community, and the European Economic Union. These terms all refer to the supranational organization that promotes economic and political cooperation among its member states. The EU is now made up of 27 member states with a population of over 446 million people.
