Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura (TTP) is a rare and potentially life-threatening blood disorder characterized by blood clotting in small blood vessels throughout the body, resulting in a low platelet count. In medical literature, TTP is also referred to as Moschcowitz Syndrome, as well as Microangiopathic Hemolytic Anemia and Thrombocytopenia. These terms are used interchangeably to describe the same condition. Moschcowitz Syndrome is named after Dr. Ezekiel Moschcowitz, who was the first physician to recognize and describe the condition in 1924. The term Microangiopathic Hemolytic Anemia and Thrombocytopenia describe the specific blood-related features of TTP.
