Trichuriasis is a medical condition that affects the large intestine. There are several synonyms for trichuriasis that are commonly used in medical literature and discussion. Whipworm infection is perhaps the most commonly used synonym and is derived from the parasite that causes the disease, Trichuris trichiura.
