Ventricular fibrillation (V FIB) is a serious and life-threatening cardiac condition that requires immediate medical attention. It is a chaotic, irregular heart rhythm that disrupts the normal pumping function of the heart. Although there are no true synonyms for V FIB, it is sometimes referred to as "VF" for short. Additionally, it is commonly described as a "lethal arrhythmia" or a "cardiac arrest rhythm" due to its potential to lead to sudden cardiac arrest. Early recognition and prompt treatment are crucial to increase the chances of survival for individuals experiencing V FIB. Immediate interventions such as CPR and defibrillation can help restore a normal heart rhythm and save lives.
