Ague weed, scientifically known as Eupatorium perfoliatum, is a medicinal herb used to treat fevers and other ailments. It is commonly referred to as boneset, Indian sage, sweating-plant, or feverwort. Another synonym is thoroughwort, which refers to the belief that ague weed could cure fevers "thoroughly." The name boneset was given because of its use in treating a disease called Break Bone Fever, which was common during the 18th century. Today, ague weed is used in herbal medicine to treat colds, flu, and joint pain. It is known to have anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, and immune-boosting properties, making it a valuable herb to have on hand for natural remedies.
