The Battle of Tewkesbury, which took place on May 4th, 1471, was a decisive conflict in the Wars of the Roses. It is also sometimes referred to as the Clash of Tewkesbury, the Fight at Tewkesbury, the War at Tewkesbury, or simply the Tewkesbury Campaign. The battle was fought between the Yorkist army, led by King Edward IV, and the Lancastrian army, led by Queen Margaret of Anjou. The Yorkists won a resounding victory, and the battle effectively ended any realistic hope of a Lancastrian restoration. Today, the Battle of Tewkesbury is remembered as a key moment in English medieval history.
