Cable television, also known as cable TV, has been a popular form of television transmission since the 1940s. However, with the advent of new technology, the way we consume television has evolved. Nowadays, the term "cable television" has become synonymous with other phrases like "pay-TV", "satellite TV", and "premium TV". The term "pay-TV" refers to the fact that subscribers have to pay a monthly fee to access cable TV channels. "Satellite TV" refers to TV signals that are broadcast by satellites in orbit, whereas "premium TV" refers to additional channels that require a separate subscription. Regardless of the phrasing, cable television still serves as an alternative to traditional over-the-air broadcast TV.
