Camelus dromedarius, also known as the Arabian camel, has many synonymous terms such as the Arabian one-humped camel, the dromedary camel, or simply the dromedary. This species of camel is native to the Middle East and North Africa, and is well adapted to living in hot, dry climates. Its name comes from the Greek word "dromos", which means "running". The dromedary camel is widely used as a beast of burden, and is highly valued for its ability to travel long distances across harsh desert terrain. Despite its usefulness, this species is currently listed as "Least Concern" due to its wide-ranging distribution and large population.
