Chalicosis is a condition that arises due to inhalation of specks of dust or sand, usually composed of silicates. Synonyms for this word include pneumoconiosis, silicosis, and flint disease. These terms are all used interchangeably to describe lung damage caused by inhalation of dust particles. Other medical conditions that may be related to chalicosis include asbestosis, black lung disease, and anthracosis. In addition to being a medical condition, chalicosis can also be used in a metaphorical sense to describe something that is causing stress or damage to a person's mental or emotional well-being. In this sense, the term 'toxicity' can be used as a synonym.
