Cold fusion is a concept that has been popularized as a source of cheap and limitless energy. However, despite decades of research and experimentation, scientists have not yet been able to successfully produce and harness cold fusion. Alternative names for cold fusion include low-energy nuclear reactions (LENR), lattice-assisted nuclear reactions (LANR), and condense matter nuclear science. These terms are often used interchangeably with cold fusion as they refer to similar processes of fusing atomic nuclei at low temperatures. While the actual realization of cold fusion as a viable energy source is still uncertain, scientists are continuing to investigate the potential of these alternative processes.
