Do-si-do is a phrase often used in square dancing, and it means to pass by another person and then circle around each other to switch positions. There are several synonyms for do-si-do that you can use to keep your dance vocabulary fresh. Some synonyms include allemande left, allemande right, promenade, swing, and dosado. Allemande left means to take the left hand of the other dancer and walk around them in a counterclockwise circle. Allemande right is the same motion but with the right hand. Promenade means to walk side by side with another dancer in a circular path. Swing refers to spinning around in a circle while holding hands with another dancer.
