The Family Tarsiidae represents the primates that belong to the genus Tarsius. These primates are commonly known as tarsiers and are found in the islands of Southeast Asia. Several synonyms are used to describe this family, including Tarsieridae, Podarceidae, and Omomyidae. These primates have distinctive large eyes, which give them excellent vision in low light conditions. Tarsiers have traits of both prosimians and simians, with unique features such as flexible ankles, long fingers, and a head that can rotate 180 degrees. Although tarsiers are small animals, they have the capacity to leap great distances between trees, making them one of the most agile primates in the world.
