Fanconi's anemia, also known as Fanconi's syndrome or Fanconi anemia, is a rare genetic disorder that affects the bone marrow, resulting in poor production of red and white blood cells. Other synonyms for Fanconi's anemia include Fanconi aplastic anemia, FA syndrome, and congenital pancytopenia. The condition is caused by a faulty gene that affects DNA repair pathways, leading to an increased risk of cancer and other serious health problems. Symptoms may include fatigue, weakness, recurrent infections, short stature, and physical abnormalities. While there is currently no cure for Fanconi's anemia, treatments such as bone marrow transplants and blood transfusions can improve quality of life and prolong survival.
