Garnierite, which is a green mineral, is also known by several other names such as green nickel ore, nickel magnesium silicate, and Falcondoite. This mineral has a high concentration of nickel, magnesium, and silica. It is usually found in serpentine rocks and is an excellent conductor of electricity. Other synonymous words for garnierite are another oft-used name, leucophorite; a less common idiotype is "pimelite". Chemical composition may vary slightly according to the location of the nickel mine. At different locations, this mineral is known by the name of its region, e.g. Ottreite from Ottre in Belgium and Campigliaite from Campiglia Marittima in Italy.
