The most commonly known species within this genus is the poison ivy, which is known for causing a painful rash upon contact. Another species, the poison oak, is also a member of this genus and is similarly toxic. Other less known species within this genus include Toxicodendron diversilobum, which is native to western North America and is also known as the Pacific poison oak.
