Mount Rainier is a majestic peak located in the Cascade Range in Washington State, United States. The mountain is also known by many other names such as Tahoma, Tacoma, and Rainier Mountain. The indigenous people of the area, the Puyallup, called it "Tahoma" meaning "larger than life". In the 18th century, British explorer George Vancouver named it "Mt. Rainier" after his friend and fellow British naval officer, Rear Admiral Peter Rainier. The mountain is also referred to as Rainier Peak, The Mountain, and Mount Tahoma.
