The term NRI (Non-Resident Indian) has become a commonly used phrase all around the world. It refers to people of Indian origin living outside India. However, there are several synonyms for the term NRI that people use based on the country they live in. For instance, in the USA, NRI alternatively referred to as PIO (Person of Indian Origin). Similarly, in the UK, it's often referred to as OCIs (Overseas Citizens of India). In Australia, it's called NRIs (Non- Resident Indians), and in Canada, it's referred to as ICs (Indian Canadians). These synonyms describe the same group of people, but the terminologies differ based on the countries they live in.
