Putonghua is the official language of China, also known as Mandarin. However, there are other synonyms for Putonghua that can be used depending on the context. For example, Guoyu or "National Language" is used in Taiwan, whereas Huayu or "Chinese Language" is used in Singapore and Malaysia. The term Zhongwen or "Chinese Writing" is used to refer to the written Chinese language, and Hanyu or "Han Language" refers to the language used by the Han Chinese, the largest ethnic group in China. Although these terms may seem interchangeable, they carry different nuances and can be used to reflect regional, historical, or cultural differences in the Chinese language.
