Rameses II, also known as Ramesses the Great or Ozymandias, was an ancient Egyptian pharaoh who reigned from 1279-1213 BC. He was one of the most powerful and successful pharaohs in Egypt's history, known for his military accomplishments, building projects, and diplomatic relations with other kingdoms. Some synonyms for Rameses II include the Great Ancestor, the Lord of the Two Lands, and the King of Kings. In addition, he was sometimes referred to as Usermaatre Setepenre, which means "The Maat of Ra is Powerful, Chosen by Ra." Rameses II's legacy continues to inspire today, with his monuments and temples still standing and attracting tourists from around the world.
