Urban area is the antonym for rural area. Urban areas denote densely populated regions that are usually characterized by high-rise buildings, extensive road networks, and a wide range of commercial, industrial, and residential premises. Unlike rural areas, urban habitats usually have a more sophisticated infrastructure, modern facilities, and a variety of amenities such as cinemas, restaurants, amusement parks, and shopping centers. In contrast, rural areas refer to sparsely populated regions that are mostly rural, and comprise of farmlands, grasslands, woodland, and water bodies. Rural areas are usually seen as a tranquil environment, free from the hustle and bustle of urban life.
