Thylogale, also commonly referred to as pademelon, is a small marsupial found in the forests of Australia and Papua New Guinea. Although the term thylogale is widely used to describe this creature, there are several other synonyms used to denote the same animal. Some of the common synonyms associated with thylogale include thylacis, dorcopsis, macrocercus, caloprymnus, and onychogalea. Each of these synonyms refers to a different species of thylogale, each with its unique physical and behavioral traits.
