Being scared, afraid, terror-stricken, petrified, spooked, panicking, alarmed, startled, intimidated, unnerved, anxious, apprehensive, nervous, jittery, edgy, jumpy, disconcerted, flustered, agitated, horrified. All these words are used to describe the state of being frightened. Sometimes we feel threatened and helpless, and that causes us to be frightened. It is a natural response to fear; the body prepares itself to react quickly, either to protect ourselves or to get away from danger. Everyone experiences fear at some point in their lives. Whether it's the fear of the unknown or the fear of a specific event, it's how we deal with fear that determines our strength and courage.
