Cabin fever is a term used to describe the feeling of restlessness and irritability that arises when someone is confined to a small or isolated space for an extended period. Other terms that can be used interchangeably with cabin fever include stir-craziness, isolation fatigue, lockdown blues, home-bound frustration, and quarantine stress. These terms describe the effects of being cut off from society and being forced to live in close quarters. Although it is a natural response to prolonged isolation, too much cabin fever can be detrimental to someone's mental wellbeing. Fortunately, there are ways to combat this feeling, such as getting outside, exercising, connecting with friends and family, and learning new skills.
