Genus Cuon is a scientific classification for the species commonly known as the Dhole or Indian Wild Dog. There are several synonyms for the word Genus Cuon, including Cuon alpinus, Canis alpinus, and Canis dukhunensis. However, recent genetic studies have suggested that the Dhole species may actually belong to a separate genus altogether. Despite this uncertainty, the Dhole remains a fascinating animal known for its distinctive vocalizations, social behavior, and unique hunting strategies. Conservation efforts are underway to preserve the dwindling Dhole populations in their natural habitats across India, China, and Nepal.
