Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the lymphatic system - the body's network of lymph nodes, organs, and vessels that help fight off infections. There are several synonyms for this condition, including NHL, lymphoma, non-Hodgkin's disease, and non-Hodgkin's lymphocytic lymphoma. Other terms that are occasionally used to refer to this disease include B-cell lymphoma, T-cell lymphoma, primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma, and peripheral T-cell lymphoma. The exact type of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma a person has will depend on the type of lymphocyte cell that has become cancerous, as well as other factors. Treatments for non-Hodgkin's lymphoma may include chemotherapy, radiation therapy, immunotherapy, and/or stem cell transplants.
