ISDN or Integrated Services Digital Network is a telecommunications protocol that enables high-speed data transfer over digital phone lines. The acronym ISDN stands for 'Integrated Services Digital Network'. Although ISDN is widely used protocol, there are few synonyms exist for it. Few alternatives to ISDN include POTS (Plain Old Telephone Service), T-carrier, leased line, and frame relay. T-carrier and leased line are used for high-speed business connections while POTS was the common telephone service in the past. Frame relay is also a digital transmission protocol which provides fast data transfer. Despite these alternatives, ISDN remains a popular choice for many users due to its efficiency, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness.
