The Rice Rat is a small rodent found in the United States, Mexico and Central America. This creature is known by a variety of different names depending on where it is found. In Mexico, it is called "Rata Arrocera," while in Central America, it is known as "Ratón de Arroz." In the United States, Rice Rats are also referred to as "Harvest Mice," "Cotton Rats," and "White-footed Mice." Other related species are known as "Oryzomys," "Sigmodontinae," and "New World Rats." Despite the various names, all Rice Rats share common features such as pointed noses, large eyes and thin tails.
