Tannia, also known as Xanthosoma or cocoyam, is a tropical root crop that is primarily cultivated for its starchy tuber. Various regions around the world use different names to refer to this crop, some of which are synonymous with tannia. In South America, it is commonly called malanga or yautia, while in Africa and the Caribbean, it goes by the names eddoe, maccabo, nduma, or dasheen. In Southeast Asia, it is known as keladi, while in India and Pakistan, it is referred to as arvi or arbi.
