Manihot Dulcis is a species of cassava plant, commonly known as sweet cassava or sweet manioc. It is a vital source of food in Africa, South America and Southeast Asia as it is rich in carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. Despite its many benefits, some people prefer to use different names for Manihot Dulcis. For instance, it is sometimes called Yuca Dulce or simply Cassava. In some places, people call it Tapioca, which is the name referring to its starch extracted from its roots. Other synonyms include Manioc or Brazilian arrowroot. Clearly, no matter what it is called, Manihot Dulcis remains a key staple food in many parts of the world.
